35mm at Film Forum

A lot more scattershot than I expected. Multiple movies smushed together, albeit fantastic ones. Morality play then rote procedural then descent into hell. Restrained then heightened aestheticism. Social commentary that is at once both loudly communicated and irreconcilable. Somehow ceaselessly compelling.

Train Expert and Guy Who Burns Things are the stars of the show—sorry Mifune.
